Wayne L. Hoover

Wayne L. Hoover, 78, of Butler passed away at 8:48 a.m. Monday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.

He was born March 2, 1937, in Butler to the late Chester Paul Hoover and Dorothy (Feeman) Hoover.

Wayne was veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and he worked as a scheduler for Butler Armco Steel, retiring October 1993 with 33 years of service.

He was a member of Hill United Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder, usher and helped with the kids club. Wayne was a member of the Butler Armco Employee Association and the Loyal Order of the Moose 64 Butler. He volunteered at the community dinner at Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church and enjoyed duck pin bowling, golfing and playing poker.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Jeannette Hoover, whom he married Nov. 30, 1958; three daughters, Lynn (Hoover) Burkert and her husband, Jeff, of Chicora, Sherrie (Hoover) Heist and her husband, Tim, of Hollidaysburg and Tracie (Hoover) Irwin and her husband, Brad, of Edinboro; 10 grandchildren, John Burkert and his wife, Melinda, Joshua Burkert, Jeremiah Burkert and his wife, Tasha, Justin Burkert, Matthew Heist, Michael Heist, Christopher Heist and his wife, Shannon, Sarah Schwarz and her husband, Cole, Benjamin Irwin and Noah Irwin; seven great-grandchildren, Jacob, James, Jonathan, Olivia, DeAnna, Lillian and Evelynn; one niece, Kim Grasso; and one nephew, Douglas Bopp.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sondra Bopp.

HOOVER — Friends of Wayne L. Hoover, who died Monday, March 30, 2015, will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St., Butler. Funeral services will be held immediately following at 1 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Clark Sawyer officiating.Interment will be in the Greenlawn Burial Estates.Arrangements are handled by the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Butler.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VNA Inpatient Hospice, 115 Technology Dr., Butler, PA 16001.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
