A Franklin Township woman was turning across Route 422 West when her vehicle collided with a man's motorcycle.

FRANKLIN TWP — A Prospect man was taken Friday by helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh after suffering serious injuries in a two-vehicle accident.

A Franklin Township woman was turning across Route 422 West into the parking lot of Michael’s Restaurant at 970 New Castle Road when her Chevrolet Aveo collided with the man’s motorcycle heading west.

The 6:15 p.m. crash tossed the man off his bike, and he land about 50 feet away. He suffered facial, pelvic and internal injuries. He was taken by STAT MedEvac to UPMC Presbyterian.

The Prospect Volunteer Fire Department responded to the accident. Assistant Fire Chief Jerry Osborne said it wasn’t clear whether the injuries to the motorcyclist were life-threatening.

The woman suffered minor injuries to a wrist and a knee. She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital.

The car and motorcycle both needed to be towed.

The westbound lane of the highway was shut down for several hours while the eastbound lane remained open.

The names of the two drivers were not available. No police report was available.

Portersville Volunteer EMS, the Butler Ambulance Service and state police also responded to the scene.
