Mabel W. Murray, 88, of Laurel Manor in Emlenton died of natural causes at 3:17 p.m. Wednesday at the manor. She had lived in the Big Bend area, near Emlenton, much of her adult life and also had lived at the Clintonville Apartments for a number of recent years.

Born Oct. 13, 1918, in Richland Township, Clarion County, she was the daughter of Charles and Emma Stubble Weckerly.

Mrs. Murray had taught beauty culture at the Maison-Felix Beauty School in Pittsburgh for many years.

She was a longtime and faithful member of the Big Bend United Methodist Church, where she was active in supporting the youth group and Sunday school.

Known for her ability to create beautiful floral gardens, especially iris plants, she enjoyed providing the Big Bend church with fresh cut flowers for the altar as seasons permitted.

Surviving are a son, Glenn A. Murray of Beckley, W.Va., and his fiancée, Myra Reynolds of Princeton, W.Va.; two granddaughters, Tanya Murray of Beckley and Lana Murray of Bluefield, W.Va; a great-grandson, Blaine P. Murray of West Virginia; a sister, Gladys Aaron of Strattenville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Her husband, G. Clair Murray, whom she married June 21, 1941, at the Stone Church in Scrubgrass Township, died Dec. 21, 2002. She also was preceded in death by four brothers, Maurice, Lawrence, Lloyd and Ira Weckerly; and an infant sister, Hazel Weckerly.

<B>MURRAY</B> — Friends of Mabel W. Murray, who died Wednesday, June 20, 2007, will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the <B>H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home</B>, Main Street-Route 38, Eau Claire. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Rev. Susan Evans, the Venango County VNA Hospice chaplain, officiating.
