Bernadette ‘Bernie’ Toner
Bernadette “Bernie” Ruth Toner, 80, of Butler, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, Sept. 16, 2026, at her home.
She was born May 28, 1946, in Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late Florence “Ruth” Gambogi and Louis Gambogi.
Bernie enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, with football season being her favorite time of the year. She also enjoyed taking scenic train rides in the fall to see the fall foliage and taking boat cruises on Lake Erie. She had worked at the front desk of the Butler YMCA and was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.
Surviving are her husband, Patrick Toner, of Butler; her son, Dominic (Jeanie) Bertuca, of Piperton, Tenn.; a granddaughter, Victoria Bertuca, of St. Petersburg, Fla; a number of nieces and nephews; and her mother-in-law, Jeannine Toner.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Velemirovich.
TONER — Friends of Bernadette “Bernie” Ruth Toner, who died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2026, will be received from 3 p.m. until the time of the blessing service at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler.
Burial will be private.
