Joan Marie Muth
Joan Marie Muth, 78, of Butler passed away at 1:25 a.m. Thursday in the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
She was born April 1, 1933, in East Butler to the late Douglas MacCarron and Cyrilla Leonard MacCarron.
Mrs. Muth was a graduate of Butler High School.
She worked at Armco and then was a school secretary for the Butler and Ellwood City school districts. She also was a school librarian at the Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr.
Mrs. Muth was a member of the Hill United Presbyterian Church, where she was active singing in the choir and as a member of Willing Workers, the Woman's Bible Study, the Presbyterian Women and the Quilting Circle.
She was an avid reader, and enjoyed travel and nature. She was a gifted artist and enjoyed arts and crafts in many mediums. She enjoyed playing dominoes with many friends from church.
Mrs. Muth is survived by her husband, Henry H. Muth, who she married Sept. 21, 1981; one son, Doug Gatto of Philadelphia; one daughter, Beth Gatto Jones and her husband, David, of Ellwood City; two grandchildren, Dani Marie Caughern and Rocco Ward; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lorna Baer of Atlanta, Ga., and Mary Schake of Butler.
