William E. Lawson Sr.
William E. Lawson Sr., 79, of Jefferson Township passed away Tuesday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.
He was born May 28, 1933, in Butler, the son of the late John Harrison and Beulah Mildred (Steer) Lawson.
Bill retired in 1995 after 30 years of service as a federal coal mine inspector. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served aboard the Edward H. Allen (DE531) during the Korean War.
Bill was a member of the Thorn Creek Methodist Church, the Meridian Vets Club, the American Legion 778, the Masonic Lodge 429, the New Castle Consistory and Syria Shrine. He enjoyed hunting and wine making.
Surviving are his wife, Jeanne C. (Fry) Lawson, who he married Aug. 16, 1962; his daughter, Christine (Randal) Byers; his son, William E. (Parames) Lawson Jr.; three grandchildren, Dea M. Byers, Bryan L. Byers and Nadia E. Lawson, all of Butler; three sisters, Dorothy (Robert) Damico of Saxonburg and Ruth (James) Robinson and Lois (Sylvester) Kapalka, both of Butler; a brother, James (JoAnn) Lawson of Butler; and many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and John Lawson.
LAWSON — Friends of William E. Lawson Sr., who passed away Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2012, will be received at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Services will be at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Tom Jones of the Summit Presbyterian Church officiating.
