James A. “Jim” Turk
James A. “Jim” Turk, 88, of Butler passed away Friday at the VNA Inpatient Hospice.
He was born April 16, 1927, in Butler to the late Loyal Turk and Nellie (Grenet) Turk.
Jim was a veteran of the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre in World War II. He then retired as a technical sergeant from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years of service, including during the Korean War.
Jim was the former co-owner, with his wife, Shirley, of The Hoagie Shop in Butler until 2005.
Jim's salvation is with Jesus Christ. He loved the Lord and is now with Him and his wife of 59 years. Jim found his strength in Isaiah 40:10: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Mr. Turk is survived by one daughter, Sheridan Frenchak of Butler; one grandson, Travis Franchak; one granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley H. (Noel) Turk, whom he married Sept. 25, 1950, and who passed away Feb. 12, 2010; one sister, Nellie Kennedy; and one brother, Bill Turk.
