The Rotary Club of Cranberry Township-Sunrise, named Brooke Eckley for September and Riley Engle for October as fourth-grade students of the month at Rowan Elementary School.
Students are chosen for being all-around good students in the classroom, demonstrating positive attitude towards peers and teachers, and being leaders in their grade.
The virtual event last month was also attended by Rotarians Ron Gigler and P.J. Lynd, fourth-grade teacher Ms. McComb, Rowan Elementary Principal Nannette Farmar, and Rowan Guidance Counselor Lauren O’Donnell.
Seneca Valley High School seniors Ty Brinkley, Vincent Horvath, Jacklyn Ko, Katie Monahan, Kaitlyn Moore, Ashleigh Patterson and Brenna Wrubel have been listed as commended students in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program.
A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation was presented. These seniors are seven of about 34,000 commended students throughout the nation being recognized for their exceptional academic promise.
Although they will not continue in the 2021 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, commended students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2021 competition.
Kallan Baldis of Mars was among over 130 transfer students welcomed to the Baldwin Wallace University campus in Berea, Ohio, this fall who claimed over $1.6 million in merit scholarships based on their previous college accomplishments.
Baldis, a graduate of Oakland Catholic High School majoring in music education, earned a Transfer Fellow’s Scholarship.
