Rita A. West
Rita A. West, 77, of Greenville, formerly of Delason Avenue in Meridian, died Monday at the home of her daughter.
Born June 2, 1930, in Butler, she was the daughter of John H. and Anna V. Poarch Chuba.
She was a 1948 graduate of Butler High School and was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian, the Christian Mothers of St. Fidelis, the AARP and the Deers Air Force Program.
Dedicated and loving was our mother, who always put our Lord and her family first. She had an unending devotion to the Blessed Mother Mary, even at her death. Though she was dealt a hand of poor health throughout her life, she always made the best of her situation with love and hope.
She is survived by three sons, Paul J. West of Meridian, J. Michael West of New Castle, and Myron W.West and his wife, Darla, of Slippery Rock; a daughter, James (Mary W.) Smart of Greenville; five grandchildren, Erin, Patrick, Joseph, and Michael David West and Tyler Smart; a step daughter, Nicole Zimmel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis L. West, whom she married Oct. 13, 1951, and who died March 11, 1995. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Paul Robert, Joe, Francis, and John Chuba; a sister, Rosemarie Chuba Gibson; and a daughter-in-law, Cindy West.

West, who died Monday, July 23, 2007.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Meridian. The Rev.
