East Butler and East Side advanced with victories in the Butler Area Midget Football League playoffs last weekend.

East Butler 35, Meridian 21 — Meridian (2-5) took the lead early as Jordan Cratty launched a 62-yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Taggert on the game's first possession. East Butler (3-4) answered with a 6-yard scoring run by Alex Younker.Alex Scialabba's 1-yard run gave the lead back to Meridian, with Cratty throwing to Taggert for the conversion. Another Younker 6-yard run, followed by Jeremy Yennick's conversion run, knotted the score again.Younker scored twice in the third quarter to give East Butler the lead for good. He scored on a 49-yard run and a 60-yard punt return. Yennick's conversion kick after the latter score gave the Bulldogs a 27-13 lead.Taggert answered with a 2-yard run for the Raiders and a 10-yard conversion pass from Cratty to Anthony Graziani trimmed the deficit to 27-21.Tanner Wahler's 3-yard run with 48 seconds left sealed the East Butler victory. Yennick added the conversion kick.

East Side 12, Penn Street 0 — Previously winless East Side (1-6) scored twice in the first half. Demetrius Lockley scored on a 2-yard run in the first quarter and Claude Clark scored on a 50-yard run in the second period. Penn Street ended its season at 3-4.

Saturday's schedule — East Butler vs. South Butler, 5:30 p.m.; East Side vs. Center Township, 7 p.m.
