Butler's freshman hockey team improved to 9-1-4 on the season with wins of 4-2 over Fox Chapel and 3-0 over Ford City this week.

Troy Double scored twice against the Foxes with Aaron Cunningham and Corey Chuba adding a goal each. Nick Whann had two assists.

Whann, Chuba and Derek Ritenour scored against Ford City. Clay Bachman had 22 and 18 saves in goal to post both victories.

The Golden Tornado freshmen return to action at 9:50 p.m. today against Deer Lakes at the Ice Connection in Valencia.

In other action:

Butler's JV improved to 9-8 on the year with a 6-1 win over Plum. Cody Bachman had two goals with Mitchell Cunningham, Matt Bartley, Jake Tomasovic and Shaun Milkovich adding one each.

Bachman, Tim McConahey, Ben Beers, Matt Stirling, Jake Whann, Levi Rodgers, Zach Emigh and Tomasovic had two assists each.

Butler ends its regular season at 7:35 p.m. March 5 vs. Kittanning at Belmont Arena.
