YOUTH TRACK

The Butler boys finished first for the fourth consecutive year and the Golden Tornado girls placed second in the recent Butler Junior High Track and Field Invitational.

The boys tallied 187 points to beat out runner-up North Allegheny, which had 145 points. Jacob Alston was named Field MVP after winning the triple jump, placing second in the high jump and third in the long jump.

Evan Bauer won the 1,600 meters for the Tornado, Josh DePippa claimed the pole vault and Travis Reed the shot put. Butler's 400-meter relay team of Claude Clark, Kolby Kriess, Steve Shoemaker and Patrick Lokhaiser, along with the 1,600-meter relay team of Jeromee Geibel, Zack Collins, Shoemaker and Lokhaiser also won.

In the girls meet, Ava Bonetti was named Field MVP after breaking the meet record in the shot put with a 34-feet, 11Z\x inch toss. She won the discus as well.

Grabbing second-place finishes for the Butler girls were Nicolina Nanni in the triple jump, Kennedy Evans in the 100 meter hurdles and the 3,200-meter relay team of Rachel Konieczny, Rachel Weyand, Macy Stalnaker and Nicole Zirpoli.

Slippery Rock also had a strong showing at the invitational.

Eighth-grader Morgan Siebka won the 100-meter hurdles, placed third in the 400 and seventh in the triple jump.

Teammate Kelsey Brendlinger was seventh in both the 800 and 1,600.

Other individual placers for the Slippery Rock girls at the invitational were: Steph Gaurrich (seventh, 200), Cascade Walsh (seventh, shot put), Ashley Master (seventh, discus) and Haley McLaughlin (fifth, high jump).

The 400- and 1,600-meter relay teams also placed.

In the boys meet, Travis Kroner placed fourth in the shot put and fifth in the discus for the Rockets.

Other placers were: Ryan Currie (fifth, 400), Mitchell May (seventh, 100 and fifth, long jump) and Dylan Neal (sixth, 400).
