Police seek 'person of interest'
Butler police are seeking an unknown man for questioning in connection with a stolen vehicle investigation.
Investigators on Friday described the man, who is white, as a “person of interest” in the case.
The investigation began Sept. 24 when police received a report of a stolen delivery vehicle from the Advance Auto Parts store at the Pullman Square shopping plaza in Butler.
The Chevrolet Sonic was parked in the lot in back of the store when it was taken. The car was unlocked and the keys had been left on the floor, police said.
Because the vehicle was equipped with a GPS tracking device, police were able to quickly track its whereabouts — the Butler Commons shopping plaza in Butler Township. It was parked just east of the Walmart.
Investigators notified Butler Township police, who recovered the vehicle, which apparently was not damaged.
Butler police said they have no suspects in the case but they want to talk to the unknown man who was captured on surveillance video Sept. 24 entering the Walmart.
The man was dressed in a dark shirt which appeared to have an emblem of a skull on it. He also wore a dark ball cap, blue jeans shorts and white sneakers.
