Awards given at college
BUTLER TWP - Butler County Community College on April 28 celebrated the achievements of its retirees, faculty and staff at the annual Recognition and Awards Banquet at the college's convocation center.
The awards are sponsored by the BC3 Education Foundation.
Employees who were recognized include:
Secretarial/clerical - Karen Grossman and Melissa Hensel.
Physical plant services - Mike Huff and Jerry Lukavich.
Administration - Carole Demmy and Kathy Sommers.
Faculty - Jean Shumway and Maggie Stock.
Recipients were awarded gift certificates and statuettes.
The Faculty/Outstanding Scholar Awards went to:
Debby Proctor, full-time faculty scholar.
Bob Dandoy, outstanding part-time faculty scholar.
The faculty received certificates and cash awards.
College retirees also were honored for an accumulative 127 years of service to BC3.
They include: Carole Demmy, 18 years; Faye Menchyk, 23 years; Clee Murray, 18 years; Mike Sanderson, 19 years; Jim Thomas, 15 years; and Ethel Toth, 34 years.
These faculty and staff were honored for their service to the college:
10 years - Nicole Barnes, Ashlee Esplen, Steve Joseph, Jim Morrow, Barry Pallone, Karen Riethmiller, John Ripper, Bill Speidel and Judy Wadding
20 years - Bill Miller
30 years - Alice Christy and Kathy Sommers
35 years - John Griffiths
Tenured faculty - Kim Fish, Bessie Jeffries, Randy Kruger and Pat Massaro
Promoted faculty - Ashlee Esplen, Sherry Neely, Jean Shumway and Mary Ellen Smith
