Butler man accused of burglary, trespassing
A homeless man allegedly broke into his mother’s Butler Township apartment and stole her cellphone, according to charges filed Friday.
Brian L. Tristani, 48, of Butler, was charged by Butler Township police with felonies of burglary and criminal trespass, misdemeanor theft and summary charges criminal mischief, harassment and disorderly conduct.
According to court documents, police responded to the residence around 7:30 p.m. July 23 for reports of someone pounding on doors.
A second call was received saying Tristani had broken into his mother’s apartment and had left the scene.
“(Tristani) grabbed a white bag that was his and then took a Safelink phone. (Tristani) threw papers around the room and had shoved (his mother) down on the bed before he fled,” the investigating officer said.
According to surveillance footage, Tristani gained access to the apartment by shoving his shoulder into the door, damaging it.
Police said Tristani has no known address and trespassed on the property previously by allegedly climbing through a window.
Tristani has not been arrested and his preliminary hearing is yet to be scheduled.
