James W. Stark
James W. Stark, 99, of Sarver, passed away on July 25, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Hospice.
Born April 24, 1923, in Sarver, he was the son of the late Lester J. Stark and Helen Ruediger Stark.
Jim served 34 months in the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant with the 359th Engineers during the invasion of Normandy, France.
He owned and managed his own business, Stark’s Feed Mill. He also worked his way to head teller of Union National Bank, and then as branch manager of Valley National Bank. Jim worked as a bus driver and then became manager of Bauman Bus Company.
Jim was a lifetime member of Clinton Presbyterian Church, where he held many positions. He was also a member of the American Legion Saxonburg 683. Jim was a farmer, a pilot and a motorcycle enthusiast. He enjoyed restoring old farm tractors, music, singing, camping and woodworking.
Surviving are his loving daughters, Janet (Alan) Bochek of Cheswick and Cheryl (Joe) Criswell of Sarver; his grandson, Scott (Debbie) Bochek of Cheswick; his granddaughters, Shelley (Michael) Whipkey of Butler and Crystal Stark; his great- grandchildren, Seth and Payton Whipkey; a stepgrandson, Jace (Jennifer) Criswell of Vandergrift; his stepgranddaughter, McKenzie (David) Knepshield of Lower Burrell; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Emma Criswell and Ethan and Jake Knepshield; his companion, Ann Freehling of Sarver; and a sister, Lois Risch of Sarver.
In addition to his parents and brother, Ken, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nettie M. Stark, and his son, Bruce Stark.
STARK — Friends of James W. Stark, who died Monday, July 25, 2022, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at FOX FUNERAL HOME, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Clinton Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Kelley Angleberger officiating. Everyone please meet at the church.
