YOUTH SPORTS
The Butler girls junior high track team finished second out of 10 teams at the recent Butler Invitational held at Art Bernardi Stadium.
Lexis Frost won the 100-meter hurdles in 16.6 seconds, the long jump (14 feet, 2½ inches) and triple jump (34-9) to share Field MVPhonors with Jocelyn Duttry, who won the shot put (32-5) and discus (77-9½).
Amber Zanella won the pole vault (7-0) while Paige Rittleman won the high jump (4-10). Other Butler athletes scoring points in the meet were Vanessa Tomsey and Rachel Konieczny in the 800, Autumn Crookshank in the mile, Jennifer Barry in the triple jump, Spencer Noble in the high jump, Makenzie Calhoun in the shot put, Alexa Gray in the 400 and Alexis Swiergol in the two-mile.
All three Butler relay teams scored points as well.
GymnasticsThe Butler Hy-Flyers competed in the Western Pennsylvania Level 7 Section meet last weekend.Each of the following girls qualified for the state meet in Reading April 26-27. Their individual results follow:

BasketballThe North Pittsburgh Basketball Club's eighth-grade AAU team won the Solon Cage Classic recently, defeating Ohio's King James Shooting Stars, 49-33, in the championship game.There were 32 teams in the tournament and North Pittsburgh improved to 17-0 with the win. Nate Snodgrass of North Pittsburgh, an eighth grader at Butler Junior High, was named to the all-tournament team.
SoccerNorthern Steel's under-12 girls defeated Foothills 3-0 recently as Kyler Lum, Aubrey McCoy and Paige Clary scored goals and Kalie Davis had two assists. Goalkeeper Charlene Doerr got the shutout.
BaseballButler's junior varsity defeated North Hills, 4-1, recently as Bobby Swartout struck out six and allowed four hits in a complete-game effort.Cody Montgomery had two doubles, Ronnie Glassman a double and single, and Ian Jewart had a double for the Golden Tornado (5-1, 5-0).
