East Brady man charged with felony drug case, has several pending cases
State police filed new drug-related charges Wednesday against an East Brady man who has four pending cases in each of Butler and Armstrong counties.
The new charges against Braden T. Stevenson, 23, include one felony count of drug sales and misdemeanor counts of drug and paraphernalia possession related to a traffic stop on Aug. 28, 2021.
According to charging documents, police stopped Stevenson along Route 28 North for an expired inspection sticker. Police said they also later found Stevenson’s license was DUI suspended, which led them to investigate further.
“He was in possession of 43 bags of heroin or fentanyl which were used and contained residue and a crack pipe,” said police in the affidavit.
Police said they also spoke with Stevenson’s passenger, Tonisha L. Hedrick, 28, of Karns City, who turned over a combination of 45 bags of methamphetamine and fentanyl, which she told officers she bought from Stevenson for $200.
“She handed me the bags from her purse,” police said.
Hedrick also was charged with misdemeanor counts of drug and paraphernalia possession from the incident.
Stevenson and Hedrick have yet to be scheduled for preliminary hearings in the case, but Stevenson has been in jail for other pending cases.
Before the latest filing, Stevenson was arrested and charged in April in Armstrong County after he allegedly shot at two men and stole their vehicle.
He has been held since on $100,000 bond in that case, which included felony counts of robbery, aggravated assault, use of a deadly weapon, theft and illegal gun possession, as well as misdemeanor counts of simple assault, terroristic threats and reckless endangerment.
Stevenson’s other cases have a broad spectrum of charges, including threats, assaults, harassment, retail theft, drugs and reckless endangerment.
Currently all five of Stevenson’s cases filed in Butler County remain inactive; however, his four cases in Armstrong County are active and have been progressing.
