Robert N. “Windy” Winrader
Robert N. “Windy” Winrader, 83, of Butler passed away on Tuesday at his residence.
He was born May 7, 1935, in Butler, and was a son of the late Howard Winrader and Bertha Neely Winrader.
Mr. Winrader worked in quality control at Magnetics in East Butler, retiring in 1997.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve and the National Guard.
Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying the outdoors as well as boating. He was a fan of the Steelers; enjoyed watching fireworks over Pullman Park from his front porch; reading the newspaper; working on cars; doing handiwork around his home; his dog, Winston; and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his four sons, Bradley Winrader and his wife, Diane, of Slippery Rock, Rob Winrader of West Hollywood, Calif., Brian Winrader of Butler, and Scott Winrader of Butler; two daughters, Vicki Winrader of Zelienople, and Lisa Johnson and her husband, Jerry, of Butler; five grandchildren, Janice “Nicole” Doan, Kristen Leslie and her husband, Nick, Joelle Grossman and her husband, Tyler, Ashley Johnson and Cody Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Rachel Leslie, Ryan Leslie and Lucas Doan; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Ann “Judy” Rensel Winrader, whom he married on June 15, 1955, and who passed away on Jan. 27, 2014; two sisters, Vivian Paul and Virginia Myers; and three brothers, Eugene and Charles Winrader and Howard Winrader Jr., who is MIA from the Korean War. Bob always held out hope that Howard's remains would be returned to his family.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank Scott Winrader, for his loving care of Bob, which enabled him to remain at home. The family would also like to thank Vitas Hospice, for their kindness in caring for Bob, especially his nurse and friend, Sara Rodgers.
