Samuel D. Adams, 82, of Chicora died at 9:30 p.m. Thursday in Lifecare Hospital, Pittsburgh, after an illness from complications with diabetes.

He was born Dec. 17, 1927, in Kaylor, Pa. He was the son of the late Ralph Adams and the late Josephine Phillip Adams.

He was a U.S. Army veteran from March 9, 1946, to March 9, 1947. A private first class, he served with the 725th-Anti Aircraft Artillery.

He worked for Pullman Standard in Butler for 32 years.

Sam enjoyed playing country music and played the fiddle in many bands. He loved music and singing and was also an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was a member of the former St. Patrick Catholic Church, Sugarcreek, Pa., now St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bradys Bend.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Maley Adams, who he married on Nov. 17, 1951; one brother, Andrew Adams of Epsyville, Pa.; and three sisters, Anna Stevenson of Chicora, and Nora Eyth and Josephine Stivison, both of Butler.
