Warren Pickett
Warren L. “Sonny” Pickett, 94, of Butler, passed away on May 30, 2022, at the VA Butler Healthcare.
He was born April 3, 1928, in East Butler, and was the son of the late Tracy Paul Pickett and the late Vera Grace Love Pickett Smith.
Sonny graduated from Butler High School Class of 1947, and then enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served for five years during the Korean War. After being discharged in 1952, he married his sweetheart, Donna Kincaid, on Feb. 15 of that same year. He went to work at Armco Steel and had 38 years of faithful service with the company.
Sonny was a longtime member of Community Alliance Church, where he served as a deacon, trustee and former member of the church choir.
A strong man of quiet dignity, he taught us many life lessons and will be greatly missed. The Lord said, “Well done, good and faithful servant. Come and rest with me in your heavenly home.” Thank you to all who helped take care of Warren in his last days. It is very much appreciated by the entire family.
Sonny is survived by his two sons, Robert Pickett of Butler, and Dirk (Wilma West) Pickett of Butler; one daughter, Lynette Caparosa; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; his stepbrother, Ralph (Betty) Smith Jr. of East Butler; and a stepsister, Carole Goldinger of Saxonburg.
Sonny was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Pickett, whom he married on Feb. 15, 1952, and who passed away Sept. 10, 2020; his mother and stepfather, Ralph and Vera Smith; one brother, Randall Pickett; his mother-in-law, Sylvia Kincaid; his daughter-in-law, Ronda Pickett; his sister-in-law, Kathleen Speice; and one stepsister, Sandra Pickett.
PICKETT — A visitation for Warren L. “Sonny” Pickett, who died Monday, May 30, 2022, will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2022, with a memorial service following immediately after at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler, with Pastor Joe Floris of Community Alliance Church officiating.
Officers and members of the American Legion Post 117, American Legion Post 778, and the VFW Post 249 will conduct military services at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
