Tritch

John A. Tritch, 85, of Butler died early Saturday morning at the Sunnyview Home.

Born in Chicora, Aug. 11, 1922, he was a son of Bernard and Gladys Montgomery Tritch.

He retired from the food service department of the Butler School District on June 4, 1984, after 28 years.

During World War II, he served with the Army Military Police.

Mr. Tritch was an outdoor sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also an avid golfer and bowler.

He was a member of St. Fidelis Catholic Church in Meridian and the American Legion Post 117 in Butler.

Surviving are his wife, Cleora "Cleo" Young Tritch, whom he married July 24, 1982, in Butler; four sons and their spouses, John E. (Victoria) Tritch of Clearwater, Fla., Robert C. (Mary Ann) Tritch, Richard C. (Carol) Tritch and Larry A. (Sue) Tritch, all of Butler; a daughter, Diane M. Tritch and Jim Mazzanti of Cabot; three stepchildren; eight grandchildren; five step-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dolores Christofano Tritch, who died Feb. 22, 1978, and a brother, Delmont "Sonny" Tritch.

<B>TRITCH </B>— Friends of John A. Tritch, who died Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. There will be no visitation on New Year's Day. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Fidelis Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Meridian. The Rev. James Murphy will officiate.Military honors will be provided at the church by the Ceremonial Honor Squad of VFW Butler Post 249.The Bereavement Committee of St. Fidelis Parish will conduct a parish vigil service at 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
