A local organization celebrated Giving Tuesday by asking people to wear temporary tattoos.

Giving Tuesday, which is always the Tuesday after Thanksgiving in the United States, was started by the 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation in 2012 as an international day to celebrate charitable giving.

Don't Stop Dreamin', a nonprofit organization that provides fulfillment of dreams for residents of Quality Life Services nursing and personal care homes, dubbed Tuesday #GivingDREAMSDay.

Quality Life Services sold and distributed 1,000 #GivingDREAMSDay temporary tattoos. It was the second year the organization participated in Giving Tuesday in an effort to raise awareness about their efforts, said Patty Kirkpatrick, community relations coordinator with Don's Stop Dreamin'.

Photographs of people wearing the tattoos were shared on social media throughout the day.

“We're very excited and thrilled for all those that are participating and helping raise the awareness,” Kirkpatrick said.

The organization, incorporated in 2012, fulfills dreams for residents such as going to see a ballgame or getting a new iPad.
