MARS — State police arrested a Saxonburg man who allegedly assaulted a woman at a borough home last month.

Charles E. Young, 40, faces assault and harassment charges stemming from a verbal argument-turned physical with Christine J. McClelland at the latter’s Church Street residence on the night of Feb. 21.

McClelland told Young to leave her home after the two got into a verbal argument, however Young refused.

As McClelland tried to push Young out of her home, Young struck her with a closed fist in the face and threw her to the ground outside the home’s entryway, police reports state.

Young then repeatedly kicked McClelland in the face and torso while the latter was on the ground, according to reports.

McClelland suffered suspected minor injuries to the face and right arm, including a bloody nose and a cut on her right elbow.

Young then fled the scene. He was later arrested and charged on Feb. 24.

He waived his charges to county court Tuesday, where he will be arraigned on April 18.

Young’s bail on Tuesday was reduced to $500 per agreement from the initial $1,500. However, he remains in county prison as of Thursday.
