Police have arrested an Evans City man after he allegedly attempted to burglarize a house in Evans City and for alleged drug possession.

Nicholas Brittner, 29, of Evans City is charged with burglary, attempted burglary, drug possession and criminal trespassing.

On Nov. 23, police responded to a call about an incident at the caller’s home in Callery.

Officers from Evans City-Seven Fields Regional Police, and Adams and Cranberry township police departments detained three people including Brittner at the residence, according to documents.

Another of the suspects, Jessica McMaster, told police that she was staying at the residence to watch the house and feed the animals and that she had the other two over for a party the day before, according to documents.

But police observed Brittner on security footage gaining entrance to the basement through a door that was blocked off and not in use and began removing things from the basement, arresting officer David Wellington, Evans City police, wrote in his report.

“I’m sorry I took the stuff, but the stuff never left the house,” said Brittner according to the police report.

“Brittner related that he took the laptop and tablet from the upstairs office and took them downstairs to look at them,” Wellington said. “Brittner related that the airsoft pistols and other items he took from the downstairs apartment were placed in a blue bag.”

He only returned the items he took after they got a call saying police were on the way, documents said.

Police also found marijuana and a pipe used to smoke it, both of which McMaster said was hers, documents say. They also found two stamp bags where Brittner was sleeping. Brittner said he was using heroin the night of the party, documents say.
