Dorothy S. (Stevenson) Diehl, 88, of Butler died Saturday at her home.

Born Sept. 20, 1922, in Woodhaven, Long Island, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Ralph Christian and Mary Gage (Cox) Jappe.

Dorothy graduated from high school in 1940 in Long Island, N.Y.; and she also graduated from an X-ray technician school. She worked as an X-ray technician for the Roosevelt Hospital in New York, N.Y. Following that, she became a homemaker and worked for Sonotone of Butler for 15 years; and lastly, she worked as a nurses aide for St. Barnabas.

She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Butler.

She was an avid reader, enjoyed working crossword puzzles, loved cats and was interested in politics and finances.

Surviving are her two daughters, Barbara J. Diehl of New Castle and Claudia E. Trusel and her husband, Barry, of Butler; a son, Charles W. Diehl, and his wife, Julee, of Butler; a daughter-in-law, Terri Diehl of Wilmington, Del.; six grandsons; two granddaughters; three nieces; and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by Richard K. Diehl; two sons; two sisters, and a brother.

<B>DIEHL</B> — There will be no visitation. Private services for Dorothy S. (Stevenson) Diehl, who died Saturday, May 28, 2011, will be held for her family later.Arrangements are under the direction of <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, Butler.In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made either to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Western Pennsylvania Chapter, 1501 Reedsdale St., Suite 105, Pittsburgh, PA 15223 or to the Butler Area Public Library, 218 N.
