BUTLER TWP — Authorities are investigating the death of a 48-year-old man who died Sunday from an apparent overdose at his home on Home Avenue.

Jack F. Bollinger III was pronounced dead about 8:10 p.m., according to Butler County Coroner Larry Barr.

No autopsy was performed and the cause of death is still pending results of toxicology tests, which won’t be available for several weeks, Barr said.

Butler Township Police were notified at 7:08 p.m. after a family member found Bollinger unresponsive in the threshold of the bathroom and hallway.

Police said they recovered empty stamp bags of suspected heroin and a syringe at the scene.
