Suspect faces prison term for robbery, dealing heroin
A man charged with heroin delivery and robbing a store employee at knife-point pleaded guilty in Butler County Court on Wednesday.
Joseph C. Brothers Jr., 49, pleaded guilty to felony possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance — heroin, and misdemeanor terroristic threats before Judge Timothy McCune.
The plea agreement calls for a sentence of nine to 18 months in Butler County Prison, with parole at the time of sentencing on time served, followed by 24 months probation, restitution and fines. He is scheduled for sentencing on Dec. 28.
Brothers was initially charged with two felony counts of possession with intent and a misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance following an incident on Oct. 10, 2016, in Butler.
The Butler County Drug Task Force filed the charges after an investigation wherein they say Brothers sold eight stamp bags of heroin to an undercover officer on East Brady Street.
He also was charged with felony robbery and terroristic threats after an incident on July 8 in Butler. The threats charge was later changed to a misdemeanor as part of the plea, and the remaining charges will be dismissed.
Butler City police filed the charges after they say Brothers held up the E-Z Stop on North Main Street while brandishing a fixed-blade knife.
He was later found at a home on the 300 block of West North Street and was arrested.
Brother continues to be held in the Butler County Prison on a combined $75,000 bail pending sentencing.
