Man charged with sexual assault gets ARD placement

Anthony Painter

A Clarion County man charged with having sex with a 15-year-old girl was placed on the county's Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program in Butler County Court on Wednesday.

Anthony Painter, 21, of St. Petersburg was placed in the program for two years.

He was also ordered to undergo sexual offender treatment and to have no contact with the victim.

Assistant District Attorney Patricia McLean said the plea was a result of requests from the victim's family, as well as a sexual offender evaluation Painter had already completed that states he is a low-risk offender and recommended community-based supervision.

Painter was initially charged with felony statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors and possession of child pornography after an incident on April 11.

State police filed the charges after allegations that Painter had sexual intercourse with the girl in a parked car near her home in Allegheny Township, after swapping sexually explicit photos online.

Police said the girl's cell phone contained several Facebook messages with Painter in which he asked her to send him sexually explicit photos and videos, and to meet him for sex in his car.
