1 new COVID death reported for county

Toll reaches 25,879 in state

The Pennsylvania Department of Health on Thursday reported 24 new cases of COVID-19 in the county and 4,192 new cases statewide.

The new cases increase the county total to 10,434 and the state total to 1,122,662 since the pandemic began.

One new death in the county brings the total to 402, and 52 new deaths across the state bring the statewide total to 25,879.

There are 2,842 people hospitalized, including 579 people in intensive care. The 14-day average number of people hospitalized per day is increasing, but remains about 3,500 lower than it was at the peak of the pandemic in December 2020 and lower than what it was at the height of the spring peak in May 2020.

In licensed nursing and personal care homes, 70,322 residents and 14,671 employees have COVID-19. Of the deaths in the state, 13,058 have been residents from nursing or personal care facilities.

About 27,386 of the cases in the state are among health care workers.

The department also said 2,969,315 people have been fully vaccinated and 100,000 people are getting vaccinated daily. A total of 7,571,893 doses have been administered, including 4,873,194 first and single doses and 2,698,699 second doses.

In the county, 19,676 people have been partially vaccinated and 58,073 people have been fully vaccinated.

Butler Health System said all residents ages 16 and older can now sign up for vaccinations, and should do so because the coronavirus continues to spread in the community. Appointments can be scheduled at www.butlerhealthsystem.org.
