PENN TWP — A New Castle man is being sought in connection with a weekend assault and shooting at a township home.

No one was struck by the gunfire but a 37-year-old, pregnant Slippery Rock woman was injured in the altercation at about 1:20 a.m. Sunday at the rental house on Winters Road, authorities said.

The alleged gunman, 41-year-old Marc A. Latimore, is wanted on a felony arrest warrant.

Penn Township police that night arrested the tenant, Jessica Erdos, 41, after they found a stolen pistol and drug paraphernalia in the home.

The victim, who police did not identify, told investigators that her mother had driven her to the house where as many as 10 other people, including Latimore, were attending a party. The woman knew Erdos but apparently did not know Latimore.

At some point, according to court documents, Latimore allegedly struck the woman and knocked her to the floor. The victim left the house and headed back to her mother's car at the end of the driveway.

The woman recounted that she heard three gunshots that she believed were “near” her, police said.

“The victim reports that she looked back,” documents said, “and could see the male with the gun as the same male who assaulted her in the residence.”

Investigators said other witnesses corroborated the woman's account of gunfire.

The victim made it back to her mother's car and the women drove to Route 8, where they flagged down a police officer.

Police eventually got a search warrant for the house and found a .40-caliber pistol that was inside a DVR box in the sitting room. The gun had a loaded magazine in it.

A check of the National Crime Information Center database showed the gun had been reported stolen in 2014. The firearm, police said, was taken from a vehicle in North Fayette, Allegheny County.

Police do not know if that was the gun used in the suspected shooting.

The home search, documents said, also turned up a digital scale, drug packaging materials and drug-smoking pipes.

Police declined further comment about the investigation, including a possible motive.

District Judge Wayne Seibel arraigned Erdos on a felony charge of receiving stolen property and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. She is free on $5,000 bail.

Latimore is charged in the warrant with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment and terroristic threats.
