JV BASEBALL

Alex Ziegler pitched six innings for the win as the Butler junior varsity baseball team defeated North Allegheny 5-1 in eight innings recently.

Mickey Fennell had a single and a two-run homer for the Golden Tornado (6-2, 3-0) while Colin Williamson added a double and a single, and Ian Jewart had two singles.

With the game tied at one in the eighth, Williamson led off with a double. David Tompkins and Mike Hartman followed with singles, the latter driving in two runs. Fennell then hit his first homer of the season.

Boys Track and Field

Butler Junior High defeated Seneca Valley 99-28 improving to 6-0 on the season and 34-0 since 2005.

Travis Reed won the shot put and discus for the Tornado while Evan Bauer won the 800 and 1,600 meters. Other Butler winners were Jacob Alston in the 110 hurdles, Canan Roskovski in the 400 meters, Patrick Lokhaiser in the 200 meters, Jordan Cratty in the 3,200 meters and Anthony Yurkovich in the high jump.

Butler's 400-meter relay team of Claude Clark, Kolby Kriess, Steve Shoemaker and Lokhaiser, along with the 1,600-meter relay team of Jeromee Geibel, Zack Collins, Shoemaker and Roskovski, finished first.
