A bench warrant was issued for the arrest of an Armstrong County woman who failed to appear in Butler court for charges of animal cruelty.

Sona Murphy, 42, of Worthington is charged with nine counts of cruelty to animals and six counts each of neglect of animals and failing to license dogs after police said they discovered six dogs and three cats abandoned in a trailer home without water or food in February.

“The floor in every room in the residence was covered in feces and urine,” an investigating Butler state trooper said in his affidavit.

Murphy appeared in a district court for her preliminary court appearances, but on Tuesday she failed to appear for her formal arraignment.

Murphy is not being represented by a lawyer.
