Delays are anticipated next week as crews work on a paving project on Interstate 79 in southwest Butler County.

Day and nighttime lane restrictions will take place between Exit 88/Seneca Valley and Exit 105/Route 108 — Slippery Rock, as part of the project in Jackson, Lancaster, Muddy Creek and Worth townships. Paving will begin at Exit 88 north and continue to Exit 105 before moving to the south lanes. The restrictions will be in place until the paving is completed.

The restrictions will be in place for 24-hour paving beginning Monday.

Work on the project includes milling, patching, and paving of 16 miles of I-79, as well as drainage, bridge work, and other miscellaneous construction. The nearly $26 million project is being performed by Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. and is expected to be completed in the fall.

PennDOT officials said motorists should expect congestion and delays during rush hour. They are reminding drivers to slow down and use caution in work zones and pay attention to traffic control devices.
