Road projects set in Butler TownshipBUTLER TWP — Township officials want to tell drivers and residents of these road milling and paving projects to be done this month.- Tuesday to Wednesday: South Duffy Road, from Highfield Road to Whitestown Road; Colleen Street; Steelton Avenue; Mellon Street; Weir Avenue.- Wednesday to Friday: Pacific Street, Division Street, Erie street, Lehigh Street, Main Street.- Friday to July 25: Autumn Drive, Bocce Drive, Vista Drive.- July 25 to 28: Brown Avenue, Reiber Road from Plateau Street to the township line, and Sawmill Run Road from Kennedy Lane to Meridian Road.Township officials say these roads will be closed during milling and paving work, and there will be advance postings where on-street parking is prohibited.Violaters will be issued citations.

Mingle on Main will honor late mayorSAXONBURG — This month’s Mingle on Main festival is commemorating the late Mayor Pam Bauman.Meghan Pohl, co-owner of the business Batch, said Bauman was a positive catalyst for change in the community.The monthly summer festival along Main Street started last year under Bauman’s watch.“It was her idea,” Pohl said.The festival includes food and artisan vendors. A car cruise will be held between Isabella and Rebecca streets.Pohl said dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Batch and other eateries will provide food. There will be seating for 200 at tables on the closed street.There is no fee or reservations.Pohl credited Bauman for helping her business.“She was so helpful when my partner and I opened Batch,” Pohl said.

Red Cross finds home in HermanHERMAN — The American Red Cross of West Central Pennsylvania, which serves Butler County, has a new home.The organization’s new offices are at the Herman Volunteer Fire Department, 789 Herman Road, Herman. It formerly occupied a building at 312 Mercer St., Butler, for 30 years.Red Cross officials said the move came because the Butler location was too big for the organization’s needs and too costly to maintain.“Our new location at the Herman VFD will allow us to save money which will, in turn, permit us to serve more people in Butler County,” said Mary Rogers, executive director of the American Red Cross of West Central Pennsylvania.The new mailing address is P.O. Light repair could cause Rt. 8 delaysBUTLER TWP — Township officials are notifying drivers to expect minor delays at the intersection of Route 8 and Evans Road on Tuesday.The traffic light at that intersection will be shut off from 9 to 11:30 a.m. while repair work is performed. Township police officers will direct traffic at the intersection while the lights are out.The township is asking drivers to use caution when approaching the intersection.
