[naviga:h3]Student art contest deadline is Monday[/naviga:h3]
U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, R-16th, said the deadline for high school students to enter submissions for the 2020 Congressional Art Competition is 5 p.m. Monday. The annual nationwide “Artistic Discovery” competition is sponsored by the U.S. House of Representatives.
“The Congressional Art Competition is an excellent opportunity for talented high school students to showcase their creativity,” Kelly said. “Each year, I am so thrilled by the level of participation and the quality of art submitted by young Western Pennsylvanians and I look forward to seeing what comes in this year.”
The winning student’s artwork will be showcased in the Nation’s Capitol and Kelly will display the second- and third-place artwork, as well as the honorable mention, in his Washington D.C. office.
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, rather than submit a physical piece of artwork, interested students are asked to take a clear photo of their artwork as their submission and email the photos to Kelly’s staffer, Mariah Rohan, at Mariah.Rohan@mail.house.gov. The required attachments can be submitted by the individual students or art teachers can submit photos on behalf of their students.
A complete list of competition rules is available on Kelly’s website.

An audit of the Evans City Volunteer Fire Department by state Auditor General Eugene DePasquale contained the single finding the department did not relay the receipt of $8,983 in state financial aid to its relief association within 60 days of receiving the funds, which is required by law. The funds in question were deposited in January.
A report from DePasquale said the fire department’s relief association complied with applicable state laws, contracts, bylaws and administrative procedures regarding state aid and in the expenditure of funds, with the exception of the single finding.

Knoch High School will hold its annual Top 10 dinner Tuesday, albeit in an altered configuration to conform to social distancing protocol.

The event will be held at Laura Doerr Park to conform to protocol.
The Lyndora Hotel will donate the food for the dinner and Main Street Bakery in Saxonburg will donate dessert, Webb said.
