The Butler County Airport Authority announced its annual Future of Flight Scholarship awards recently.

All three 2022 recipients are students at High Flight Academy at Pittsburgh-Butler Regional Airport and will use the funds to help further their flight training there.

Marc Galante of Butler was awarded the $5,000 David C. Howard Passion for Flying Award.

Desiree Herman and Alan Meininghaus were awarded $2,500 each.

The authority established the Future of Flight Scholarship Fund in 2018 to provide financial assistance to flight students at AirQuest Aviation and High Flight Academy at the airport.

The scholarships are funded through donations from the authority board and community.

The authority has awarded 11 scholarships totaling $35,000 since the program’s inception five years ago.
