Charles and Gwen Wood

Charles and Gwen Wood of Butler celebrated 70 years of marriage with a family dinner at the chapel at the Nazarene campground in Mount Chestnut.

Wood married the former Gwendolyn Turner Aug. 14, 1946, at Evans City Baptist Church in Evans City.

They have two children, Sheryl (Richard) Fulkerson of Asheville, N.C., and Carol (David) Fulkerson of Harrison, Ohio.

They also have seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Wood is a certified public accountant and retired as senior vice president for Campus Sweater and Sportswear Co.

He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II.

Mrs. Wood was a high school science teacher and an elementary school teacher.

The Woods are members of Community Alliance Church in Butler.
