Michael Markiw II and Deborah Markiw, of West Sunbury, celebrated 50 years of marriage on June 12 with a family trip to the Outer Banks.

Michael Markiw II married the former Deborah Jewart on June 12, 1976, at North Butler Presbyterian Church in Chicora.

They have two children, Michael Markiw III, of Bethel Park, and Megan C. Markiw, of Jersey City, N.J.

The Markiws also have two grandchildren.

Mr. Michael Markiw is a retired English teacher.

Mrs. Deborah Markiw is a retired teacher.

The Markiws are members of Hill United Presbyterian Church, in Butler.
