BUTLER TWP — A woman was arrested for felony assault after police said she turned an unconventional item into a potentially deadly weapon.

The makeshift weapon — a large glass bong — left Kristy L. Campbell's boyfriend bloodied and in need of hospital treatment for a gash on the head late Tuesday.

District Judge William Fullerton arraigned Campbell, 41, of Butler Township on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment. She is free on non-monetary bail.

Police said the woman called authorities from a store shortly before midnight to report hitting the victim with a bong at her Forest Heights apartment.

She told an officer that she and her boyfriend were arguing when she threatened to hit him with the water pipe, investigators said.

Seated on the couch, the 33-year-old Butler man apparently did not take her seriously. She allegedly proved him wrong.

She recounted that she hit him in the head with the bong, according to charging documents.

“Campbell stated (the victim) was bleeding everywhere,” Officer Drew Blasko said in his affidavit, “and when she left, he was on the floor in front of the door unconscious.”

Inside the apartment, police found a pool of blood at the front door and a blood trail from the couch to the bathroom to the door.

The victim had a large cut on the forehead, and a Butler Ambulance Service crew tended to the injury. He told an officer that he was sleeping and didn't know what happened.

Before he was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital, documents said, the woman's boyfriend told police that he did not want her arrested. His condition was unavailable Wednesday.

Online court records did not list an attorney for Campbell, and she could not be reached for comment.
