Vivian E. Twyford
Vivian E. Twyford, 84, of Pompano Beach, Fla., formerly of Butler, died at her home Wednesday morning.
She was born in Butler, Dec. 7, 1924, a daughter of the late Daniel P. and Loretta Trimbur Shuler.
Vivian had been a true "Rosie the Riveter" working as a hod carrier at Armco Steel Corp. during World War II.
She later operated her own beauty salon in Butler for more than 15 years. Along with her husband, she had been a partner in the former Castle Bar in Butler; and after moving to Pompano Beach in 1973, they owned the Towne Tavern there. She had been retired for 20 years.
She was a former member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Butler.
Vivian was the widow of Clarence "Topsy" Twyford, who died June 16, 1976, and she also was preceded in death by four brothers, Donald Shuler, Richard Shuler, Fred Shuler and Thomas Shuler.
Surviving are two sons, Daniel R. Twyford in Pompano Beach and Larry Twyford and his wife, Carol, of Sarasota, Fla.; a daughter, Allene Graham of Pompano Beach; four grandchildren, Kristi Wilson, Todd Graham and Damen and Jorden Twyford; and two great-grandchildren, Shane Graham and Logan Wilson. Three brothers, Daniel Shuler of Kentucky and Robert Shuler and James Shuler, both of Butler, also survive.
<B>TWYFORD </B>— Friends of Vivian E. Twyford, who died Wednesday, May 27, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. Steven V. Neff, pastor of St. Paul Catholic Church, Butler, will officiate.
