James Dunlap
James “Gene” Dunlap, 89, of Church Road, New Castle, passed away Friday evening.
Born Oct. 21, 1921, in Parker, he was a son of the late George and Dora Courson Dunlap.
He married Helen Geortz on April 28, 1951, who survives.
He attended Parker High School and served his country in the Army during World War II in Normandy, the Rhineland and Central Europe as a technician 5th grade.
James retired in 1982 from Rockwell International after 32 years as a machine operator.
James was a 32nd degree Mason in the Lodge of the Craft, a Shriner, a member of the New Castle Consistory and sang in the Consistory Choir. He also was a member of the American Legion in Perryville.
He enjoyed woodworking.
He was a member of the Princeton Presbyterian Church, where he served at various times as an elder, trustee and choir member.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Joyce Wimer and her husband, Russell, and Sandra Dunlap, all of New Castle; a grandson, Andrew Wimer of New Castle; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Harold and John Dunlap.
<B>DUNLAP</B> — Visitation for James “Gene” Dunlap, who died Friday, May 6, 2011, will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory</B>, 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Cheryl Waguespack will officiate.
