CT, Merdian will clash for title
Center Township and Meridian have earned berths in the Butler Area Midget Football League championship game this season.
The game will be played at 7 p.m. Oct. 27 at Art Bernardi Stadium. It will be preceded by the junior varsity title game between Butler City and Center Township at 4:30 p.m.
Center Township 30, Butler City 6 — The Rams (6-1) built a 30-0 lead by halftime against Butler City. Gavin Terwilliger’s 74-yard run set up Adam Hohn’s 1-yard plunge and Michael DiMartino followed with the PAT kick.
DiMartino added a 54-yard touchdown run and Terwilliger scored from 29 yards out with DiMartino adding the PAT kick. DiMartino scored on a 24-yard run and added the PAT kick.
Dante Smith scored on a 9-yard run in the fourth quarter for Butler City.
Meridian 32, East Butler 6 — Alec Bayer scored on a 2-yard run for Meridian (4-3) and Dallas Hays answered with a 62-yard scoring run for East Butler (4-3). A blocked punt set up a Cameron Kovach 11-yard run. Kovach added a conversion run and an interception before the end of the first half.
Mike Vought scored on a 1-yard run and Bayer added the conversion run for Meridian. Kovach scored on a 6-yard run, Josh McGowan on a 30-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Junior VarsityButler City 13, Meridian 7 — Nathan Friel scored on a 59-yard run and Cameron Weisenstein added the conversion run for Butler City. Friel added a 5-yard scoring run. Bayden Davenport scored for Meridian.Center Township 46, East Butler 6 — Brody Lineman scored on runs of 53 and 30 yards, also returned a kickoff 52 yards for a score. Mike Crawford and Jack Codispot caught conversion passes and CT got a safety on a blocked punt.East Butler scored on Zach Taylor’s 59-yard touchdown pass to Luke Robinson. CT answered as Trevor Gahagan caught a 60-yard touchdown pass, Codispot scored on a 20-yard run, Kyler Callihan on a 21-yard interception return, Andrew Kline on a 45-yard run for a touchdown.
