BUTLER TWP — Authorities are investigating the apparent fatal overdose of a 32-year-old city man who was found Wednesday night in a car parked on the 800 block of East Jefferson Street.

An autopsy was planned at 5 p.m. Thursday for Joseph Michael Gibson, said Butler County Deputy Coroner Larry Barr. There was no sign of foul play.

A call for a well-being check about 9:25 p.m. led emergency crews to the parking lot at Van’s Sporting Goods near the Butler Township-City line. The caller told police that someone had been in the car for some time.

At least 10 stamp bags of suspected heroin were found at the scene. Butler Township police identified Gibson from his driver’s license.

Barr pronounced him dead about 11 p.m.
