Boltz

Foster J. Boltz, 94, of Rivercliff Terrace, Kittanning, formerly of Worthington, passed peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus, his Lord and Savior, while in the company of his loving family, Monday afternoon, July 13, 2026, at Quality Life Services — Sugar Creek.

Foster was born in Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County, on April 30, 1932. He was the son of the late Addison Foster and Edna Mae Thompson Boltz. He had attended school in East Brady, and served his country as a medic in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Cowansville.

Foster retired in 1988, following nearly 40 years of service from T.W. Phillips Gas and Oil Company, in Butler. He was a longtime member of the Chicora Alliance Church and had served the church faithfully for many years as an elder.

Foster was a well-known jack-of-all-trades. He enjoyed camping and sitting around the fire with family and friends. He was a good listener, a man of few words, always mindful of Psalm 90:12, applying his heart unto wisdom.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores M. Pyle Boltz, whom he married on the courthouse steps in Butler during the Butler Old Fashioned Days celebration on May 21, 1955, where their wedding was witnessed by all in attendance.

Surviving are six children, Robert K. Boltz, of Butler, Theresa L. Long and her husband, Harry, of Kittanning, Lucinda K. “Cindy” Moore and her husband, Glenn, of East Brady, Richard K. Boltz and his wife, Vicki, of Worthington, Dennis L. Boltz and his wife, Lisa, of Kittanning, and Brent A. Boltz and his wife, Kathy, of Cape Cod, Mass.

Foster was affectionately “Pappy” to his 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Also surviving is a son-in-law, Nick Kijowski, of Evans City; his sisters-in-law, Sandy Pyle, of Karns City, Bertha Pyle, of Kittanning, Donna Pyle, of East Brady, and Linda Pyle, of Elderton; a brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Candy Boltz, of Butler; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Janine A. Kijowski; a grandson, Travis Boltz; a brother and sister-in-law, William and Theresa Ann Boltz; a son-in-law, Greg Sinkevich; as well as a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in -law.

BOLTZ — Friends of Foster J. Boltz, who died Monday, July 13, 2026, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 16, at HILE FUNERAL HOME OF CHICORA, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora.

Friends will also be received from 11 a.m. to noon Friday, July 17, at Chicora Alliance Church, 310 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora.

The Armstrong County American Legion Honor Guard will accord military honors at the church at 11:45 a.m. Friday.

A funeral service will follow at noon at the church with the Rev. Mark Wallace, church pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Union First Presbyterian Cemetery in Cowansville.
