Allegheny Township man sentenced for child sexual abuse material
An Allegheny Township man was sentenced Friday in Butler County Common Pleas Court to serve a sentence of prison and house arrest after pleading guilty to one of more than two dozen child sexual abuse material charges filed by state police in 2024.
Paul William Blauser, 44, was sentenced to five-and-a-half months in the Butler County Prison, followed by six months of house arrest and five years of probation after pleading guilty to one of the felony charges.
In addition, he was found to be a Tier 1 offender under Megan’s Law and ordered to register with state police for 15 years.
Blauser had been free on unsecured bail, but was arrested by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office following the sentencing hearing.
In April 2024, police filed 28 child sexual abuse materials charges and one count of criminal use of a communication facility against Blauser for downloading images showing the sexual exploitation of children.
According to police, authorities received a tip that a local phone number and IP address was uploading images with child exploitation to a cloud server operated by Synchronoss Technologies.
Police identified Blauser’s home as the location of the account. A search was performed on Blauser’s home in August 2024, where he admitted that he used his phone to search for sexually explicit images of children online. He also admitted that he had an interest in child sexual abuse materials, according to an affidavit.
Police said 14 images of child sexual exploitation were found on Blauser’s phone. Another 14 were found in his cloud account through an earlier search warrant.
