An assistant district attorney has withdrawn a DUI charge against a Pittsburgh man accused of traveling 140 mph on Route 8.

Following the Tuesday, Aug. 25, preliminary hearing, Colin Noone-Hirosky, 22, still faces charges of felony fleeing police and misdemeanor reckless endangerment stemming from the Aug. 2 incident, which were held for court.

State police said they first spotted him driving a Honda Accord south on Route 8 in Clay Township traveling at high speeds. Police said the vehicle was already traveling faster than 120 mph before police attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle reached speeds of 140 mph during the chase then fled through an active construction zone.

Police stopped the vehicle using a precision immobilization technique — a maneuver in which police strike a moving vehicle with theirs in an attempt to force a sudden 180-degree rotation causing the vehicle to stall — on Route 8 near Renfrew Road in Penn Township.

Police initially accused Noone-Hirosky of showing signs of impairment and testing positive for alcohol, but a blood alcohol concentration was not immediately available at the time.

Noone-Hirosky’s formal arraignment is scheduled for 1 p.m. Oct. 13 in Butler County Common Pleas Court. He’s represented by attorney Nicole Nino.
