Saxonburg resident deals with recurring sinkhole at trailer park
Christina Durci’s trailer at the Saxony Estates mobile home park in Saxonburg has a minor flaw: a hole in the driveway that reemerged over the weekend.
According to Durci, she has dealt with the hole for years now and it has only gotten progressively larger, even as the managers of the trailer park have tried multiple times to fill it in.
“It's been around for about the whole time since I’ve moved in almost six years ago. It’s gotten worse over the last three years,” Durci said. “Jack’s Trailer Court (the owner of the park) has fixed my driveway three other times … and now it has sunk in again.”
A representative from Saxony Estates said the sinkhole reemerged because of the severe storm over the weekend. They added staff was aware of the situation and sent a maintenance crew to take care of the sinkhole earlier that day, but offered no further comment.
However, Durci takes issue with the methods the maintenance crew has used to fill in the hole.
“Jack’s Trailer Court sends someone to fill it up with rocks and dirt and that makes it worse every time it rains,” Durci said. “I have told them about it several times and they only fix it cosmetically. Now it’s affecting the whole drain and caving in.”
