Kentucky man sentenced to probation for stalking TV reporter

A Kentucky man was sentenced Thursday to serve 24 months of probation after pleading guilty to a stalking charge police filed for repeatedly contacting a female WTAE TV reporter.

Jeremiah Daniel Gregory, 33, was sentenced in Butler County Common Pleas Court to pay a $200 fine, complete 35 hours of community service, undergo mental health and drug and alcohol evaluations and not to contact the reporter in addition to probation.

The journalist submitted a written victim impact statement, which was not read in court.

Adams Township police filed charges in December after the reporter contacted police in November, saying Gregory began sending her unwanted emails and messages when she was employed at a TV station in Kentucky. The journalist filed complaints with local police in 2018 and 2019 while living there, police said.

Police said the unwanted contact persisted after the journalist changed her phone number and email address. Gregory has attempted to contact her by phone call, text message and her work and personal emails, according to police.

Police said between April 21 and Dec. 7, Gregory sent the journalist 56 emails on a variety of topics, including photos of his genitalia. He also sent photos of himself and of the journalist that he found online, police said.

Police contacted Gregory Nov. 10 to stop contacting the journalist, but he continued to contact her and her previous employer.
