Pair sentenced for burglary in Butler

A man and woman accused of a break-in at a Butler home were sentenced to probation Tuesday in Butler County Common Pleas Court after pleading guilty to lesser charges.

Karl Rex Warren Jr., 36, of Butler was sentenced to concurrently serve two terms of 24 months of probation, pay $300 in fines and pay $329 in restitution after pleading guilty to two counts of simple assault and single counts of criminal mischief and theft by unlawful taking. He was ordered to have no contact with the victims.

Co-defendant Janautica Shirell Revis, 27, of Butler was sentenced to serve 12 months of probation, pay $300 in fines and pay $329 in restitution. She was ordered to avoid the West Brady Street home where police said the May 30, 2025, incident took place.

According to Butler police, officers were dispatched for a report of two women fighting in the street. They arrived to find two women throwing punches. They detained the women and spoke with another woman who was in the house during the incident.

The woman who was inside identified Revis as a former aide for a deceased patient who previously lived in the home and said Revis had a key to the front door. She told police Revis and Warren had come to the residence on multiple occasions to steal.

The woman told police she was in the home when Revis and Warren arrived and she positioned herself and her cane in front of the door to block them from entering.

Police said when the door would not open, Warren lowered his shoulder and struck the door twice causing it to break off its hinges.

Police said the woman fell on the floor after the impact causing injury to her back. She said Revis and Warren entered the residence and began taking items when the woman’s sister arrived and got into an altercation with Revis.

Police said Warren joined the altercation and kicked the woman in the face while she and Revis were on the ground.
